Catch Up

I'm so terrible at keeping up with blogs on here. I still haven't got round to making a post about the bargains I got which I said I was going to do last weekend, and I haven't even posted about some of the things I've done this past week.

Okay so Fridays are my day off, no work or uni, and me and Paige decided that we were going to do something with our day and went to Madame Tussaud's because we had 2 for 1 vouchers. We had a proper good day out messing around and taking pictures with the 'celebrities'. So here's some pictures of our day!

We had loads of fun there and even got our hands casted in hot wax! So cool! We definitely brightened up the man's day who was working on that section with our lack of common sense and ditsyness, if that's even a word. Here's a snap of my hand!
Apologies for the rude gesture. It was meant to be a peace sign, but it's really hard to keep your fingers straight when they're being dunked in hot wax.

Friday night we went to a party, which contributed to me doing absolutely nothing on Saturday apart from watching 'cloudy with a chance of meatballs' and the entire series 5 '90210' to date, due to being bed ridden from too much wine.
Sunday was pretty much the same, waking up late, then going to Asda for a little shop with Bret so my cupboards are nice and full.

Tuesday involved a lot of this...
Wetherspoons for our weekly Tuesday fix then Bella Italia in Leicester Square before seeing Les Miserables.

Les Miserables is NOT my sort of thing. I love musicals however my idea of a musical is something upbeat and happy. However I am really glad that I went to see Les Mis because I did really enjoy it despite it not really being my cup of tea. I can't say I will be going again, and I doubt I'll make the effort to go and see the film, however I can appreciate it and fully understand why people do like it. For me it's a bit too depressing and it didn't grip me, I felt I could have left during the interval and not worried about missing the end, however I wasn't going to complain that I had to sit through the second act, although I will admit that a few of my friends have seen it before and apparently this is one of the worst casts that they've had so I guess my opinion could change. I do urge you though if you haven't seen the musical or the film to do so because I think it's one of those things that you have to see.
Tonight we have plans to go to Proud in Camden because we know someone who managed to blag VIP entry for us and loads of others so it should be a pretty good night. On that note I'm going to make myself some pasta, find an outfit for tonight, moonpig my mum a birthday card, wash my tan off, renew my library books and then have a power nap.

Productive day

Despite my run yesterday I actually woke up not feeling too achy or stiff. I woke up before my alarm, and if you ask anyone I know, this never ever ever happens.

Okay, so I'll admit that I was being slightly lazy when it came to my 9am lecture, and I may have stayed in bed throughout this, however I manned up and managed to make it to my 10am seminar which we then got let out of early, we decided to go to the tourist information centre which we previously had been told to go to before Christmas and never got round to it. There was a cafe in there where we sat for a drink and to discuss our project, then we had a look round and it turns out its got a brief history of Greenwich which I'm definitely going to go back and read more about. The picture on the left is me wearing a piece of armor. I really wanted to put on the helmet as well, but neither me or Lauren could pick it up to put it on my head. There are no words to describe how heavy it actually was. I cannot even imagine how much it must weigh when you have the entire suit on. And here's me complaining about aching after an hour running/walking, never mind being in battle wearing all of that.

After uni, me and Paige decided that we were going to take a little shopping trip down Oxford street purely just to go to the Primark and HMV. We ended up spending at least an hour an half in HMV, which was literally full of ignorant film fanatics raiding through all the bargains. I came out of there with three DVD's and a poster of Manhattan, NYC. Please don't judge my film choices, which are also placed on my NEW chair that I got given today due to my gas pump breaking last night on my last one. What a lovely surprise to come back to! I'm going to make a post on my new items of clothing this weekend, because recently I've bought quite a lot that I'd like to do a post about.
When we got back from Central, we popped to the library to find that my book reservations were sorted, I found this very exciting because I can finally catch up with some reading before my lecture tomorrow. Then when we got back to our flat another nice surprise was to find that my new You Me At Six poster had arrived, 5 days before it was 'expected' to arrive.

When we got back to our flat I was more than happy/ready to go straight to bed and sleep right through until tomorrow, and I was so hoping that I wasn't going to be asked to go running. This however was NOT the case and we ended up running all the way along the Thames path, I say all the way but we lightly jogged about half of the way, alternating between jogging and walking. We ended up right opposite Canary Wharf which was pretty cute being all lit up and generally just being cute. My second run was definitely not as bad as my first run, I know it's early days, however I genuinely think that I've seen a difference since yesterday and I guess I'm beginning to be more positive about the whole running thing. I've decided that tomorrow I'm not going to go for a run and I'm going to try and keep into a habit of run two days, have a day off etc...Here's a cheeky snap of where we ended up today.

Running

Dedicating this blog post to my first ever run, jog or whatever you want to call it. I've been waiting for the past week for the weather to sort itself out so I can start going running along the Thames.
I am the most unfit person you will ever know of in your life and recently I've been thinking that I should probably do something about this because I get tired walking up a flight of stairs, and for someone my age this should not be the case. I basically just want to build up my stamina and keep fit, I'm not doing this as any sort of weight loss or anything.
Anyway, me and a couple of my flatmates decided that today was the day we'd take the plunge and actually go, and I just want to make it clear that when I say 'run' I mean run for not even two minutes, walk for five, then run a little bit more. The two people I went running with are both boys, and can actually run for quite sometime. I feel that in someways this has both positives and negatives.

Positive
1. They can try and motivate me into running just that little bit further when I feel that I'm going to die because they can quite literally run off and leave me looking like a twat on my own, out of breath, basically dying. Obviously this happened several times today.

2. Well I can't think of any other good reason apart from the fact I'm not going on my own and again looking like a twat.

Negative
1. They run off and leave me looking like a twat on my own.

2. I feel like I'm slowing them both down when I stop to walk and they feel that they have to slow down and wait for me to catch up (sorry).

3. They actually motivate me into believing I'm going to die. I mean today it got to the point where I genuinely thought that I could have been sick because I was that tired.

4. After my run I couldn't even move my legs, they fully seized up and ache so much I don't think that I'm going to be able to move tomorrow.

I know that I'm basically sat here complaining, and that all these bad points I've made are actually good points because it shows I'm actually getting something out of this, but right now I feel like I could sleep for several weeks and I am NOT eager to get out there again tomorrow. But looking at it in a positive light, hopefully in the next couple of weeks my stamina will begin to improve and I'll be posting about how good this running thing is, how good it's making me feel about myself, and how glad I am that I chose to go running with these people that are going to push me. I'm thinking of it like having a personal trainer that's my friend. Honestly scrap all that nonsense when it comes to paying someone you don't even know to 'train' you and start going running with a friend!

It seems to be becoming a ritual that I leave a little picture on the end of each post so here's a picture of my university from the other side of the river when I had a little break hehe.

BIRTHDAY (not mine)

It's been a couple of days since I've blogged and I was planning on waiting until some of my purchases from BooHoo.com got here before I blogged because I wanted to do a post on some of the bargains I got myself from my Westfield shop on Wednesday. However quite a few things that I wanted to talk about have happened so I felt this quick blog was necessary.

Anyway this week has been pretty slow and I it doesn't really seem as if I have done much apart from uni, work and my one off shopping trip to spend some of my loan, even though looking back I have actually been into Central this week. However today is my friend Lucy's birthday! WOOO! So we've decided to decorate the flat a bit and have a few drinks which is definitely going to lead to a messy night which I am in dire need off. We've got her a few random presents including; a garden gnome, a hunk calender, pepper pig flannel and 3 bottles of bulmers, there could possibly be a couple more presents but I can't remember what they are and if I remember I will get a picture because I am SO jealous of the garden gnome haha!

Today me, Matt and Jake ventured out in the snow to Deptford Highstreet, which is my first ever time going right from our flat and I can't say I'll be going anymore if I can help it. We stopped in poundland for a few bits of crap and then went to Iceland woo! Then decided to bake a cake on the way back and stopped in Sainsbury's. We've spent the afternoon slaving over a hot stove baking a cake (with the help of a cake mix) with casual breaks for Matt to have a shot of Cactus Jacks (he must be onto his 7th shot today) and to play a game of monopoly. Eventually we produced this...

The picture of the cake was taken before the willy and heart were added and I've also thrown in a picture of Matt on his first shot of the day at 3.30pm.

The Social

Just a quick update about the little gig me and the girls went to tonight at The Social, a bar down Little Portland Street just off of Regent Street, we had a few drinks and it was dead cute and cosy in the place and generally just had a really good atmosphere, there were a few people playing but we went to see David Stewart, a singer/songwriter who I absolutely am in love with. He's quite well known as Examples guitarist, or ex guitarist. Anyway I've provided the link to his site where you can download his album for free, and I've also added a a video of one of my favorites,  I definitely recommend having a listen because he's really good, some of his music is quite samey, but he's really good to listen to when you just wanna chill out and I tend to listen to him loads when I'm working on an assignment, plus he's very easy on the eye as well.
There's something about places like The Social that I absolutely love, before tonight I never even knew this place existed and I think that about loads of places in London, if you didn't know it was there you'd walk straight past it, these are the sort of places I like best in London, places where you can chill and listen to a bit of live music and have a casual drink, definitely my kind of night. It makes a change from staying in the flat or going out clubbing, and it was dead nice for just us four girls to go out for a change and have time to catch up, especially after the past few days. I definitely needed tonight.

Back to uni

After an amazing Christmas at home I'm SO glad to be back at uni! I've missed my friends here so much!
My journey back to uni started with this episode. Turns out buying new shoes and getting my Christmas things back to uni was going to be much more of a challenge than I thought. I had to sit on my case to close it and sacrifice my Ugg's! then I couldn't even get it off the bed because it was so heavy, my dad had to put it onto the train for me and upon arrival back into Kings Cross two of my friends had to come and meet me to help! It took two of us to get it down the stairs from the Northern line at Bank onto the Dlr and as well as this case I had two bags! people were beginning to get agitated because we were taking so long! How embarrassing. My hopes of meeting some hunky man to helping me were shattered, I am just glad that it wasn't raining!
Anyway I hadn't even been back at my flat an hour before my friend develops the 'puking cup'. There are no words to describe how much enjoyment 12 students got from a polystyrene cup and some orange juice (picture above). Anyway we cracked open the bottles of vodka and did what we do best, drink ourselves into oblivion with our new game 'drinking jenga'. Basically just a set of jenga blocks with truth, dare, shot, nominate etc written on the blocks that you have to do when you pull them out, if you knock over the tower you drink the dirty pint, simple. For the first time ever, the dirty pint was nice, I swear people were knocking over the tower on purpose just to drink this pint.
After everyone had gone to bed me and a couple of friends decide that we (I) haven't had enough so I crack open my 'emergency bottle of wine' and drink the whole bottle to myself, then the three of us passed out on my bed. I woke up yesterday with the worlds WORST hangover as you can imagine and a mustache drawn on my face in marker pen. Basically just a standard night. I spent the day in bed yesterday and watched Mamma Mia with Martin, then a few of us sat up drinking tea and talking until half 5 this morning after Jake was telling ghost stories and I was too scared to go to bed on my own. My plan for the rest of the day is to catch up with some reading in prep for being back at uni tomorrow, and work a cheeky 4 hour shift.

Long Overdue

Today I finally got round to dying my hair! I haven't done it for 4 months, so as you can imagine my roots were the worst. I decided to choose a colour a little different from the one I usually choose and went for one with a slight red tint, however when I stepped out my bath and saw that THIS was the colour of the water...I started to regret my decision.
At this point I was beginning to panic, I had an hour and half before my driving instructor was picking me up, and if my hair was the colour of the water in the bath I was NOT stepping out of the house. I wrapped my hair in a turban before I could even see it in the mirror then got dry and then started to dry my hair, and to my relief it was NOT this colour!
Anyway heres a lil' cheeky selfy of the colour my hair actually did turn out. Unfortunately I haven't got a before picture because when I got in from work I was way way too eager to get the dye on.

New Music

One of my absolute favorite things is finding new music and new bands and I can tell that these posts are going to become a regular thing. This band is just one of the many I want to share. These are a band called General Fiasco and I came across them because my friends band is lucky enough to be supporting them for one of their dates on their February tour! How exciting!! Anyway I really wanted to give them a listen so I went onto YouTube and this was my favorite song that I found! They definitely deserve a listen and you wont regret it because they are amazing, I can't believe I haven't heard of them sooner! This is an acoustic version of their song 'German Roads' I hope you like it as much as I do!

2012

I know I haven't been blogging long. But I wanted to put together a blog that sums up my year. 2012 has definitely been a good year and I don't want to ramble on about all the good things that have happened so I have put together a few of my favorite pictures from this year.
New York City.

You Me At Six, Manchester Apollo/Brixton Academy.

Lauren's Birthday.
Sports Presentation.

Slam Dunk, Leeds.

Left College.
Eve's Birthday.
Bulgaria.
Ladies Day.
Harry Potter Studios.
My Birthday.
Uni.
My plan was to use only a few pictures, however when I was looking back there was too many to choose from therefore this post has ended up being much longer than intended and misses out a few events that I originally wanted to include, however they weren't as important. Happy New Year! xoxoxoxo
